Bi-polar PROMS
Bi-polar PROMs are ONE-TIME programmable devices
which are typically smaller, but faster than eproms. Obviously,
since they can only be programmed once, all PROMs for sale are NEW.
Also, PROMs do not program like EPROMs so not all programmers will
be able to program PROMs (Needham's for instance, can not program PROMs )
Lastly, many similar or compatible PROMs have different identifying chip numbers
depending on the Manufacturer. For instance SIG 82s123, MMI 6331, IM5610 and NS 74S288
are all the same thing, but do NOT program the same way. In my listing descriptions,
I use SIGNETICS as the refence chip (ie 82s123) since it is most widely recognized,
but may actually sell a compatible chip instead.
PLEASE verfiy that your programmer can program the EXACT PROM type listed for sale.
(I know Intersil [IM] chips are very hard to program, and very few programmmers can do them )
